We discourage temporary solutions like pedicures for infected toes. We perform a permanent medical solution called “Partial Nail Avulsion with Chemical Matrixectomy.” This minor procedure involves removing only the side of the nail that is digging in and applying a chemical (phenol) to the nail root to prevent that specific edge from ever growing back.

Generally, no. We prefer to remove only the problematic thin strip at the edge (about 2-3mm). The rest of your nail stays intact, so it looks cosmetically normal once healed.
