Keloid Treatment
Keloid & Hypertrophic Scar Management
Keloids are not just scars; they are an aggressive overgrowth of scar tissue that extends beyond the original wound boundary. They can be itchy, painful, and aesthetically distressing. Treating keloids requires a specialized approach because simple surgical removal often causes them to grow back larger. We use a combination protocol involving Intralesional Corticosteroid Injections (to flatten the scar), Cryotherapy (to freeze the tissue), and sometimes 5-FU or Laser therapy to stop the cells from overproducing collagen.
Frequently Asked Questions
We are very cautious with surgery. Cutting a keloid has a high risk (over 50%) of recurrence, often worse than before. If surgery is necessary, it must be combined with radiation or immediate steroid injections to prevent regrowth.
This depends on the thickness of the keloid. Typically, patients need a series of 3 to 6 injections spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart to see the scar flatten significantly.
Because the keloid tissue is hard, the injection can be uncomfortable. We use local anesthesia or cooling sprays to minimize the pain during the procedure.
Yes. While fresh keloids respond faster, old keloids can still be flattened and softened with consistent treatment.
Please note that 2026 pricing varies depending on the size and number of keloids treated. A personalized treatment protocol and exact cost will be determined by our doctor during your consultation.
