Cryotherapy (Liquid Nitrogen)
Cryotherapy: Freezing Skin Lesions
Cryotherapy is a standard dermatological procedure that uses liquid nitrogen at an extremely low temperature (-196°C) to destroy abnormal skin tissue. It is a quick and efficient method for treating viral warts, actinic keratosis (pre-cancerous sun spots), seborrheic keratosis, and skin tags. The extreme cold freezes the water inside the cells, causing them to destruct and naturally slough off, allowing healthy new skin to grow in its place.
Frequently Asked Questions
You will feel a stinging or burning sensation while the liquid nitrogen is applied, which lasts for a few minutes. It is generally well-tolerated without anesthesia.
The treated area will turn red and may form a blister within 24 hours. This is a normal part of the healing process. The blister will dry up and fall off as a scab in 1 to 2 weeks.
Cryotherapy usually heals with excellent cosmetic results. However, it can sometimes leave a small white spot (hypopigmentation), especially on darker skin tones.
For small sun spots, one session is usually enough. For thick warts, multiple sessions spaced 2 weeks apart may be necessary to penetrate the deep layers.
Please note that 2026 pricing varies depending on the number of lesions and the area treated. A personalized treatment protocol and exact cost will be determined by our doctor during your consultation.
